"The inspiration for this project Long time ago I couldn't find a nice world time application in Windows Store. All of them displayed just time, but on PC it was waste of screen estate. And I came up with idea to display Earth to see actual daylight. What it does This application provides you information about local times in cities around the world. Additionally it shows Earth so it is very easy to find out, if it is day-time or night at specific locations. It is possible to select a city and the globe rotates, so that selected city is in the center. How you built it I started with application for Windows 8 and Windows Mobile 8. Later on upgraded to Universal Windows Platform. Then I added platforms Android and iOS using Xamarin. Currently Windows 8/8.1 is not supported. Project uses MVVM pattern and this way I use UWP UI for Windows and Xamarin.Forms for Android and iOS. Most of the code is shared using .NET Standard. Interesting fact: Rendering of Earth is implemented in C# too. Development is managed in Azure DevOps using continuous integration. Challenges you ran into Rendering of Earth and other time calculations were bit challenging, but very interesting experience. Also in-app purchases are not easy to test. Some platforms better than others. Accomplishments that you are is proud of Very positive feedback in application stores. Some of the features were implemented based on user feedback. One user mentioned that they liked design so much, they used the application on big screen at reception. Also MVVM pattern made very easy adding new platforms. What you learned Spherical geometry, UWP, Xamarin, CI for mobile apps What's next for this project? User feedback is welcome."

Hello, I'm Corstiaan. I'm a software developer from the Netherlands and I manage BuiltWithDot.Net. I created this site as a place where developers working with .net technology can showcase their projects and inspire other developers.
There's so much you can build with .net these days that I thought it would be nice to have a corner of the web dedicated to the breadth of .net. Enjoy!
