"My Fantasy League (MFL) allows third party developers to create apps that work with their fantasy football service. When I joined a league hosted on MFL years ago I thought it would be fun to create an app that I could share with my league mates. Nine years later here I am still working on that app and having a great time working on it. This app helps anyone who has joined a fantasy football league on MFL manage their team on their mobile device, including things like setting lineups, making trades, viewing live scores, and keeping up with player news. It started as an iOS-only app built using Objective-C. After working on it for a few years I decided to rewrite it on Xamarin.iOS, after seeing an impressive demo from Miguel De Icaza at Dev Days. Later when Xamarin Forms was announced, I adopted that framework almost immediately and released an Android version just three months later. The biggest challenge is finding enough time to develop all the ideas I have for the app. Moving to Xamarin and .NET, and then to Xamarin Forms greatly increased my productivity. I remember the joy of leaving a complex (and buggy) XML parser written in C and replacing it with a few lines of Linq-to-XML. To this day I still get a kick out of hearing feedback from people that use the app -- to think this code I wrote is useful to somebody out there -- and it keeps me motivated to continue making it better. Over the years I've made my share of mistakes and learned how important it is to test before publishing a release and to maintain a focus on quality. When a bug hits thousands of users it is a wake up call to be careful. There's so much more I can do with this app and this year my focus is on improving the user experience. It has been a huge help to get UXDiver's Gorilla Player working so I can fine tune UI layouts rapidly without needing to build and run the app just to see a code change."

A little bit about this site

Hello, I'm Corstiaan. I'm a software developer from the Netherlands and I manage BuiltWithDot.Net. I created this site as a place where developers working with .net technology can showcase their projects and inspire other developers.

There's so much you can build with .net these days that I thought it would be nice to have a corner of the web dedicated to the breadth of .net. Enjoy!

What is the .net community working on?
