"SmarTracks Athlete is a running app deploying the smartphone magnetometer (compass) to detect magnetic timing gates on specially equipped tracks (so-called SmarTracks). Provides insights for distance timing with accuracy unachievable with GPS. Two run types are presented in the app: - Record Run – can be performed on locations equipped with magnetic gates. Deploys magnetometer for gate detection and accelerometer for steps detection. - Free Run – traditional GPS run which can be performed anywhere. Deploys GPS for distance calculations and accelerometer for steps detection."
